For anyone interested. I went with 5 Plano 3640 waterproof boxes. They fit, but it's tight--bows the divider a little bit. I'm hoping after a while the divider will take the shape and make the fitment a little less snug. I was going to order the Plano Flex boxes ( they are a little thinner), but spending another $100 on boxes for this setup seemed a bit too flagrant for me.

it’s funny you say that. I have 8 of the 3700 Flex Thin boxes (at $25 each) that I really, really like but they dont fit. I dont want to spend more on boxes to fit my Loadout box.

So my Loadout box just stores my offshore stuff now.

I hear you. I also don't think using this thing as a tackle box is super practical.. it's big, heavy, and says YETI, so it could walk off easy..... but it's kinda like their coolers, once it's on the boat, you don't have to worry about it. I can't believe how much gear i'm able to fit in there and have easy access to without digging around. And having it all in one place makes loading and unloading the boat a simpler process. I'll have a better idea how useful it really is after a year of use.

I think it's working great as a tackle box honestly, before this we had a plano bag that would get soaked, then a plano water proof backpack thing that was a pain to deal with cuz it would just flop around, then I said F it and just started putting trays in the Husky gear bin but then that was a mess all the time. This has been perfect for keeping all the tackle and tools in one organized place. It's smaller and lighter than the full Husky bin we were using.

Also I don't know why you would need waterproof trays when the Yeti box itself is waterproof, isn't that a bit redundant? if you used the regular trays they would all fit just fine.

Yeah, I bought it for the same reasons you mentioned. I went with waterproof tackle boxes because I also kayak/wade fish, and will not be using the Yeti box in those situations. I'm sure the fitment will improve with use/time. Or i can just sand down the ridges on one of the boxes to provide more clearance--not too concerned with it as it's not that bad to start with.

If that Patagonia bag ever bites it just send it in. You’ll get a new bag for free :) Patagonia customer service is awesome.
Problem is that they don't make this bag anymore, and i'm not a big fan of the current stormfront or guidewater bags. But I guess I wouldn't be mad at a new guidewater if it came down to it.. just don't need 80L.

The Husky Pro Mobile Office organizer has been my inshore tackle box for several years. It has canvas dividers, that if you take a razor and cut of every other one, it holds Plano 3700 boxes perfectly. Outside pockets for pliers, leader, etc and has a lipped top and handles.

Also, only $40.

On my skiff that would just get soaking wet then I'd have to wash the salt out of it every time, not worth the hassle imo

If you can keep it dry looks like a good cheap alternative to the Plano soft sided tackle boxes for sure tho

My experience after years of use is that the outside may get soaked but the inside stays pretty dry. It's never been rinsed out. If you're using aluminum pliers and waterproof plano boxes, there is nothing to worry about anyway.

It will not be as waterproof as the Yeti box but it is more useful. I also have a $200+ Orvis bag. The Husky is more waterproof, better organized, and has a better zippper.

I love my Yeti Loadout box which is stronger and more waterproof but the Husky is water resistant enough, more versatile, lighter, and $40 vs $250. For anyone who tends to weigh value in thier purchses, this was one of my better purchases.

I had one of the first ones with zero issues and since it had sea deck on the lid I sold it with my Towee.
My 2nd one had stress cracks on the sides and they replaced it but #3 has latches that like to come open … Just Dealing with it since the size is pretty much perfect and its working ok.

My latches are super tight. I can’t imagine them coming unlatched without a good pull. I will say that the box I sent back, due to a warped lid, also seemed to have a misaligned latch on the right side, but I think it could have been related to the warped lid. It looks like these are going to be discontinued soon for a new model.

I’ve loaded mine up a few different ways now, and think I have it packed in a way that will fish well. Not sure I’ll be able to hit the water until after the first of the year tho unfortunately.

FYI: Yeti just dropped their new 15,30, and 60 Go Boxes.

New sizes and a little redesign to the latches and lid. Also a carry strap for the 30, not sure I really want that flopping around.

I don't know what I need the 15 for yet, but I need 4 of them! :)

What I really need is for them to make a 45 so 3700 boxes will fit.

I cobbled a ******* carry strap for mine with a cam strap. Once the box is in the boat the strap comes off and gets stashed in the truck out of the way.

I don’t need another fancy storage box but I really like the orange o_O
