People love to complain about Yeti and there are some good alternatives like Engel, Pelican, etc but I seem to always replace any cheap crap with Yeti eventually.

This morning I spilled coffee in my lap while driving to work because the cheap Walmart tumblr's lid is crap. I looked like I pissed my pants until lunch time. I'm throwing it away when I get home and buying another Yeti. Btw, you can buy just the lids that also fit cheaper Walmart tumblrs and don't come off.

In fact, I may buy that $80 lunchbox and $300 chair too. The wife doesn't like to get rid of stuff so I have 3 crap camping chairs that always seem to end up lying on the boat in the garage.

My stainless yeti tumbler has a hole in that plastic lid and if it fall over it spills
My Ozark Trail lid came completely off while driving, spilled a whole cup of coffee in my lap.

The Loadout / Go Box or whatever they're called are on sale for $187 right now; normally $250. Buy it plus something else for $15 or so and you'll be over $200... which means two additonal tumbler for free, free shipping, and no coffee in my lap.

Just posting some alternatives but I have two 15 gal husky dry boxes for the bed of my truck for storage and have been happy with them Husky 5-Gal. Professional Duty Waterproof Storage Container with Hinged Lid in Red 248918 - The Home Depot. Now that I’m thinking about it it would be nice for the skiff
I have a big red Husky box too with the jumper cables, tie-downs, tandem axle EZ-jack, tools, etc. It makes more sense under my Retrax cover than a big metal toolbox that doesn't allow me to secure the rest of the truck bed.

I also have 6 rod holders just forward of the Retrax canister so when I need to use them, I just open the cover. The rest of the time the cover is closed

From what I've gathered, rotomolded Yeti products like the Tundra series coolers and Loadout boxes are actually made for them by companies like:
  • Centro Incorporated (Iowa and Wisconsin)
  • Solar Plastics (Minnesota)
  • Dutchland Plastics (ironically based in Wisconsin not Germany - also makes NuCanoes)
  • Hedstrom Plastics (Ohio)
  • Plastics Professionals
Chairs, soft coolers, drinkware, duffels: China

If you order custom stuff like a tumblers with a company logo, then it will be sent to Reno, Philly, or Minnesota after manufacturing.

I was just looking at a bunch of Yeti coolers (rotomolded) a few days ago and all the tags read Made in China.
Well, I guess they have a right to change their business practices and the sites that report on this stuff are now outdated then.

Yeti needs to change it's website too. It clearly says some Tundra and all Loadout boxes are "manufactured is USA" not just "designed in Texas".

2021 Yeti annual reports provides some insight. Only two manufactures make the Loadout boxes: YETI Holdings, Inc. - Financials - Annual Reports

Why are you being a smartass? It reads right there that SOME of the Tundra coolers are made in USA.
I'm not being a smartass, if it came out that way it was not my intention.

You said the tags stated "made in China". I believe you, I'm not arguing with you; I believe you can read.

I'm saying the websites need to update their information. Philippines is not China so even if you found the store with all the coolers not made in the US.. it shouldn't say China unless all the info out there is wrong or Yeti changed their business partners.

According to the annual report, very little of Yeti's products rely upon patents and all manufacturing is thru 3rd parties. What I read that to say is that their brand is thus reliant upon strict quality control of vendors and the company's established reputation.

That may be a challenge sustaining in the future as they are increasing the number of manufacturers and their locations (international) to provide greater resilience in the supply chain.

At least the products are not complicated.

I don’t care what you’re producing, it can be screwed up and the faster you try to pump them out the more issues like warped lids and other defects will be more prevalent.
I've got a really strong $40 bucket supposedly made in SC that is slightly too big for the Yeti lid to stay on tight. I now use it as a seat in the garage and to hold a mushroom anchor and line, and sometimes a cast net.

it’s funny you say that. I have 8 of the 3700 Flex Thin boxes (at $25 each) that I really, really like but they dont fit. I dont want to spend more on boxes to fit my Loadout box.

So my Loadout box just stores my offshore stuff now.

The Husky Pro Mobile Office organizer has been my inshore tackle box for several years. It has canvas dividers, that if you take a razor and cut of every other one, it holds Plano 3700 boxes perfectly. Outside pockets for pliers, leader, etc and has a lipped top and handles.

Also, only $40.

My experience after years of use is that the outside may get soaked but the inside stays pretty dry. It's never been rinsed out. If you're using aluminum pliers and waterproof plano boxes, there is nothing to worry about anyway.

It will not be as waterproof as the Yeti box but it is more useful. I also have a $200+ Orvis bag. The Husky is more waterproof, better organized, and has a better zippper.

I love my Yeti Loadout box which is stronger and more waterproof but the Husky is water resistant enough, more versatile, lighter, and $40 vs $250. For anyone who tends to weigh value in thier purchses, this was one of my better purchases.

FYI: Yeti just dropped their new 15,30, and 60 Go Boxes.

New sizes and a little redesign to the latches and lid. Also a carry strap for the 30, not sure I really want that flopping around.

I don't know what I need the 15 for yet, but I need 4 of them! :)

What I really need is for them to make a 45 so 3700 boxes will fit.
