I‘m with you I’d like to see more made in USA stuff but the reality is the cost of doing business is stupid here. I won’t go down that rat hole ranting about it but it is the bottom line.I just wish all these Yeti products were made in USA along with a lot of the gear we all buy but I guess that will never be the case again. You would think there would be a big push especially right now for products to be made in the USA. I think the problem is finding people here that aren’t too lazy and entitled to work in a factory here that pumps out goods as fast and efficiently as China. I don’t care how well the products are made (and Yeti products are made very well) it will always rub some of us the wrong way that they are imported from China.
Igloo coolers were all made here in Katy Texas until they recently sold out…now they are made in China too. If everyone was seriously concerned with the environment and burning fuel they would be pushing for goods to be made locally and not in factories over seas where they have to be transported here in cargo ships. Same for exporting our clean petroleum products to Asia and importing crap from Asia.
I recently decided to get a new dry bag backpack for the boat/river wading. There’s a thread on here about American made goods and through that I got turned on to Sagebrush Dry. Pretty much a 2-3 person operation in Alaska. I contacted them about a bag and a special color combo. The owner messaged me back and told me he could do the special cooler for $25.00 more and that seemed reasonable. That brought the cost of the bag to $350.00. By the time mine was delivered the price of the standard bag went up to $375.00. It’s a darn nice bag and I’m happy I could buy American and support a small business. A comparable Yeti or Patagucci bag is considerably less because the input costs are considerably less.
BTW, I’m a Yeti fanboy and love my load out box.
