I went ahead and submitted mine for a refund. I’ve got a 1 yr old, so I figured if anyone is going to eat a loose magnet, it’s the little baby crawling around my skiff. I really like the hopper 20 too… oh well
sidekick as well. If you have one and don't use it you can swap it for a higher priced daytrip lunchbox - those are pretty sweet actually, but I'd never buy one for 80 bucks.
The quality of the $80 lunchbox with the zipper is outstanding but I discovered I can't fit much of anything in it. I love Yeti products for their quality but that is one item I wouldn't buy for $20 because it's pretty much useless.
We are swapping our M30. PSA, you can choose a $350 GC for Yeti.com or a Flip 18 with a $50 GC when you submit the recall and they will send a box to you so no cash out of pocket.
I am gonna trade my M30 in and get another hard cooler. I really don’t like the closure on the M30 and think it’s a poorly designed cooler. Its annoying that you need to hold the cooler open to get something out or it just shuts on you, I miss the zippers.
I got this email about the recall the other day. However I really like the magnet feature. I am afraid they are not going to release anymore products with the magnet feature because magnets will always have a little liability involved. I'm thinking I am going to just hold onto my yeti backpack and if there is any issues Ill just send it back then. but the magnet is so much better then the thick zipper in my opinion.
I traded my little sidekick for the $80 lunch box. I’ll use it in the same capacity as storage for little things like fuses, spare Butt connectors, tools, etc. on the boat.
I recently filed a warranty claim on a 3 year old Hopper flip that the zipper broke one. All I had to do was fill out an online form and email some pics. Yeti sent me a brand new one. Didn't even ask for my proof of purchase. Pretty sweet.
I remember when I grew up as a wee kid there were actual magnet kits in toy stores that where made of small magnets to play with. Now you have to have recalls and warning labels on everything.
You get a $75 gift card if you turn in the sidekick. I think they were $50 before tax.
