Lots of dudes rave about the TurtleBox. I like silence but that’s just me.
Thanks for the tip Smack. I agree - silence is golden. Better quality sound is more important to me than LOUD. I don't want to be THAT GUY who cares less about infringing on everyone else's peaceful enjoyment. However, Willie Nelson's Stardust album at low volume around Sunset on the water, with my wife and a few friends and maybe an adult beverage, is livin' the good life.

I had one of those JBL waterproof ones that are cylinder shaped and they were good but can not hear on plane. I got the turtlebox about a month ago and it is excellent, very loud, has rubber feet on bottom and on its back so you can lay it down in the cockpit or for non fishing days I cam strap it to the casting platform facing us and it is easy to hear on plane.

The larger JBL works OK but the Turtlebox is a step above

I am definitely a silence guy myself, but I have some JBL Audio Flip speakers that I bought on deployment. They pack a punch for size, are affordable, are IPX7 waterproof, have a long battery life, and they also have a feature where if you have multiple, you can daisy chain them to be playing the same things in unison without delay (think of like a cookout or party or whatever). Pretty solid all in all. https://www.amazon.com/JBL-Waterpro...eaker/dp/B07QK3LK56/ref=sr_1_omk_4?keywords=jbl+flip&qid=1650738161&sr=8-4&th=1 There are multiple sizes, versions, or colors.

Turtlebox, for sure.
I have two of them. One for the skiff, the other for everything else. Even paired both of them together to play music at my son's 1st birthday party and was crazy loud.

Listening to a podcast on my turtle box as I’m wrapping rods right now. Very durable, the battery lasts and it’s plenty loud to hear while running as long as it’s pointed at you. I either have it in my front bulkhead or under the console.

I have a first gen turtlebox. It's alright for what it is. Seems like you could make something for quite a bit less than turtle box wants for that little chinese import. I had to open mine up, it's just a laptop battery powering the thing.
