I put cuo holders in my console and love them. As others have mentioned, Make sure you have a plan for the drain. Personally I wouldn't jigsaw my console, but to each there own. If you go the hole saw route you can start it in reverse once the pilot hole is done. Honestly I use my cup holders for phone, pliers, nippers etc. Don't really like stuff on my belt or in pockets while fishing.

That looks to me like Baltic Birch plywood, made, I think, in Finland.....at least it was back in my day. That's premium quality stuff and is a pleasure to work with. Rock solid and no voids and with very thin layers....not like the fir plywood made here - even the marine grade.

You can machine it to precise shapes and it takes a very nice finish easily, as in the picture in a previous post. BUT - the Birch plywood from years ago did not have waterproof glue and you had to be very careful in sealing and maintaining it or it would delaminate. I don't know if they use waterproof glue now - I think I read somewhere that modern versions do.
Gogittum, corrupt ... correct observation the organizer is BB. and you are right about the older stuff and even have to be careful about the newer stuff

IIRC BB plywood can be had w/ WBP glue today you just have to read the stamp on the panel before you buy

the bottom 3 pics are showing Okoume & Meranti Marine plywood

the BB has more plies per thickness butt both are made of all veneer plies w/ zero voids and they really do machine and finish out nicely

as for marine fir plywood ... i can get it within 40 miles from this chair BUTT ... i drive over 300 miles and get the meranti and okoume which is what i use now

the round holes can be cut with either a hole saw or a fly cutter which is an adjustable device for wood only

Prime offers a General brand fly cutter for $25.02 that will cut from about 2" to over 7" diameter holes in wood and by simply rotating the cutter 90º you can cut inside flush holes or outside flush discs

Many thanks to southernanger/Rick who was kind enough to give me one if his extras. I did the install this morning, it turned out perfectly using a 3 5/8 Klein hole saw. Some of the other options suggested by others didn’t work because of my grab handle. I’m pleased with how this turned out, also put a light bead of silicone under it to seal.

A little tip for using the hole saw.
Pre drill your center hole with the pilot bit WITHOUT the hole saw installed, then install the hole saw on the arbor and start out drilling in reverse until you are through the Gelcoat (the top colored part), then switch to forward to continue drilling and finish the hole.
This helps to resist chipping especially on older Gelcoat.

Take a look at TackleWebs, I put 2 on my boat. They attach with velcro and you can pull them off to clean the boat. I've been pleased so far. Besides cupholders they make other different net bags for coolers and other gear. Plus the made in Florida so thats a bonus.

That looks great. Good job.

I used these cupholders on the console, these were the larger cup holders, just a hole saw and some 5200, plumbed the drain into the bilge.

The smaller cup holders here I used a hole saw and mounted a couple on the large walking gunnels I have so the front would have cup holders as well. I also used one on the poling platform.
