Can anyone tell me what the different harnesses are used for in the Lenco trim tab switch assembly? I have an older (I think) switch assembly and the switch in my console does not have the black cylindrical piece on the back side of the switch panel. My actual switch is the shown in the bottom image. Mine only has the black 10 pin connection (third harness from the left in the top image and only harness in the third image). Are all harnesses necessary? I am trying to replace the switch on my console but would rather not have to run new wires and splice in harnesses that I don't have.

Looks like you have the older lenco switch. Your current switch is connected to another box between the switch and actuators. a black box about 5”x7” embossed with the Lenco logo. That box has the power and actuator connections to it.
The new intergrated switch replaces both the switch and control box. On the new switch the larger grey plug is for power and ignition(for auto retract) and the two 2-pin grey connectors go the the actuators. The flat, black connector is for a second station if I remember correctly. You will need to locate the existing control box, remove it and connect the actuators, power, and ignition (if desired) to the new intergrated switch.

The "old style" switch is no longer sold, you might be able to find one on eBay if you look around. Lenco sells the standard rocker switch, which can be used without the controller and is most similar to the one you have now but looks a little goofy. In short, a trim tab can be operated by any double throw switch, the only added function of the controller is to have the auto retract and/or indicator lights if you want them. I just went through this with mine, I didn't like Lenco's offerings so I installed Lectrotab's switch to control my lenco tabs. Looks clean and works great, and would fit to replace your current switch, but you would need to delete the controller.

The new Lenco switch with the integrated box is really nice. Just recently replaced some older toggle switches with one. Wiring is about as easy as it gets if you have the clearance behind your panel. It also has the auto retract feature which is cool.
FWIW my opinion is you should install a pair of marine grade single pole double throw switches and get away from both Bennett and Lenco for switches.
Though I like the red light indicators on my Bennett, but there is a vent defect in their keypad that can cause ghost operation.
