Great idea. Didn’t use as many spikes per mat but can always add them. Considering taping 2 end to end and having a set on each side. I made these for fishing with a friend that has a Copperhead. He has line spikes on the bow but I often fish the stern in front of the poling platform so I’ll use them there.

Haven’t tried them yet but hopefully soon. I’ll ask my beer distributors what other sizes they might have but I can lay these side by side and have plans to make 2 more like these if they test out OK.

Just got my XL PBR square mat today. Now gotta get some spikes. Torn between using white or clear ones.

FYI: there are a bunch of these on Ebay in all your favorite flavors. They are only $10-15 or so.

Had a bunch of draggin fly spikes on my bow that people loved to kick off.

Ripped them off and stuck them to a cheap Amazon silicone craft mat and it has been a great cheap line mat ever since.

What are you folks using to punch holes? I'm not pleased with my current method, basically using an X-acto cutting around a circle drawn with a Sharpie. There's gotta be a better way.

I used a 7.62 ammo casing and a hammer. Quick and easy. Was lucky to find a shell in my closet lol

My mats corner is sticking up a bit. Tried heating and bending the opposite way. Then letting it cool like that. Was worried my line may get under the edge. Still haven’t got my spikes in the mail.
As far as punching holes. I happen to have a set of different size hole punches. You can get em at hardware stores. A empty brass case is cheaper though

A 3/8” hole punch is perfect

this will get your attention when digging in your toolbox for your hole punch. I love snakes but not when they surprise me like this. Almost shart my pants 😂
