Spent 2 days fishing out of woodland plantation with Captain Dave Best and coordinated by David Leake of Tailwaters in Dallas. Trip exceeded all expectations - multiple big reds in the 20-30 lbs range. All caught on a 9 wt meridian with the hatch gen 2 fanatic in Astros livery.
Also tried out the Rio all purpose Salt water cold water line. Really enjoyed in - significantly less coiling that the permit line in the cooler water temps. [IMG]

The woodland plantation is the jam! Its a top notch B&B that caters to the outdoorsman with the best dining experience south of NOLA.

how does that work? Do you pay a fee to Tailwaters to set up the trip?

Leake's Tailwaters travel department offers outfitting services to a number of different lodges, much like Yellowdog, the Fly Shop etc. He does a great job.

The Woodland Plantation is a very cool set-up, excellent food, great accommodations, solid guides. Good place to take the wife if she likes to fish.

Typically, the guides launch from a couple of different private ramps, so you don't have fight the crowds. Or you can bring your skiff, RV or whatever and use the Woodlands for meals and launching.
