I've got a 2004 HB Marquesa with a 90 Yammy 2S.

Have a 24v Minn Kota system.

Seen a lot of pics with batteries in the front locker. I've got mine in the console.

Are they better up front?

Every skiff is different as far as balance goes. The first thing I'd do is contact Hells Bay and ask where they recommend you place those batteries...

Remember, for your skiff to float as shallow as possible - whatever load you run with has to have that skiff sitting as close to level as possible at rest... and that might just mean those batts need to be in the bow. What we used to do long before Mavericks and HB's (and all the other great micros) was to take a new hull down to the ramp with nothing but the motor installed then add battery(s), and all the other gear that would be standard loading - and move things around until we were satisfied that the skiff floated the way we wanted - then take notes, then it was back to the shop to rig her out.... Nowadays most skiffs have all of that done for you (until, like everyone else... you start adding stuff..).

Aren't boats fun?
