doing some work in livewell hatch and wanted to know what this hard material is? Seems like it shouldn’t be there...any answers out there?

It’s an added bedding compound to reinforce the hull under the livewell. It’s a gheenoe Classic so it’s not a bad thing, wish it would have been done with a little more effort is all

It is just plopped there to anchor the live well in place.

It'll sand easy -

Going to reinstall the well?

Yes just getting ready to put it all back together. Had to cut it open because some water leaked in. It’s all dried out now and ready to repair

If you are going to simply replace it you can use a bedding compound like Sikaflex or volkem 116. Comes in tubes and you use a caulking gun. Eurethane sealants and they remain flexible and stupid easy to use. Squirt it where you want it and put the box back in.
