Stopped by Mel's over at Matecumbe headquaters and picked up a poling platform. However, I might keep this for my next build.

I have located my next project skiff, I just gotta figure out when and how I'm going to do the trip to H-Town to go grab it

I'm stoked to how this boat is turning out. It's going to look badass once I have the whole inside finished up. I'm kind of bored that the last two videos were essentially painting the outside of the boat, so I'm going to skip doing a jon boat video this week, so that the next jon boat video will have a lot more stuff done to it. I'm hoping to get the trailer redone, and the whole interior of the jon boat done to put the boat back on the trailer.

Also, thanks to some of my subscribers, they ordered a bunch of stuff for the trailer overhaul from my amazon wish list. There's only a few things left on the list for the trailer.

Spent about an hour this afternoon and managed to get the interior all sanded.
Gotta hit a couple tight areas with the wire wheel, but it's just about ready for paint on the inside.

You may have mentioned before, and if so sorry for asking again, what motor are you putting on her?
Right now I have two 9.9's to choose from. a Yamaha and a Merc. Might try one of those and see how it pushes it. If not i'll try to pick up a 20hp off a buddy.

Nice work and it looks really good.
I have an old tin skiff that needs paint restoration as well but I was thinking that I might be better off using paint stripper instead of trying to sand the entire boat.
A friend who owns a body shop told me he can get me the stripper that they use to remove paint from airplanes.
Anyone have thoughts on that?
Will paint stripper work well?

You need to remove most of the old paint and rough up the surface before priming and painting aluminum if you want the paint to stick. Sanding does both. You also need to prime within a couple of hours of sanding because aluminum begins to oxidize almost immediately and paint won’t stick to the powder. You have to put in work to do it right. Shortcuts with surface preparation will lead to bad results later.

All of this:

Aircraft paint stripper is not something I like really. It often times ends up far worse than just sanding. Just gotta get into the knitty gritty and sand it. haha
