Right now I have two 9.9's to choose from. a Yamaha and a Merc. Might try one of those and see how it pushes it. If not i'll try to pick up a 20hp off a buddy. You may have mentioned before, and if so sorry for asking again, what motor are you putting on her?

You need to remove most of the old paint and rough up the surface before priming and painting aluminum if you want the paint to stick. Sanding does both. You also need to prime within a couple of hours of sanding because aluminum begins to oxidize almost immediately and paint won’t stick to the powder. You have to put in work to do it right. Shortcuts with surface preparation will lead to bad results later.Nice work and it looks really good.
I have an old tin skiff that needs paint restoration as well but I was thinking that I might be better off using paint stripper instead of trying to sand the entire boat.
A friend who owns a body shop told me he can get me the stripper that they use to remove paint from airplanes.
Anyone have thoughts on that?
Will paint stripper work well?

Aircraft paint stripper is not something I like really. It often times ends up far worse than just sanding. Just gotta get into the knitty gritty and sand it. hahaYou need to remove most of the old paint and rough up the surface before priming and painting aluminum if you want the paint to stick.
