Bored last night so I did a little work on the boat. Added a gas shock. Made a mount that attaches to the hatch latch so less drillng of holes in my boat. I like it so much I will do the livewell soon.

Real sweet. I dont like the spring set up on the livewells, that will be a good upgrade.

What gas shock did you use and can you take a picture of how you mounted it to the latch?

    Thanks!

I used a Attwood SL36-20-5 gas shock. It is 20lb rated, and has a 17" extended lenth. I used two taylor made 1893 10mm ball stud. the mounts were made by me with some aluminum I had.

I will post more pics of the mounts in a day or two.

Yep seen the friction hinges. Like them alot. With the weight of the front hatch I didn't want to go that route. Also wanted to keep the clean look it has know with the piano hinge, and leave the boat as stock as possible. I will put them on the list for the next boat.
