I had Tom from TSG put a jackplate together for the new Low Tide. I had looked at his design and thought it looked sufficient for my needs at a good price. Tom told me he had a newer design he was going to use to construct my jackplate.
If you look at Tom's other jack plates you can see they have a traditional groove and axle type of set up to locate the plate and allow it to move up and down.
This is the way all the jack plates I have seen in the past have worked.
The new design has a clean look and what should be a lower maintenance sliding section.
Here are a couple of pictures detailing the travel distance of the jack plate. This particular plate has a 4 1/2" setback.
