Trump lifted ethanol restrictions

This morning on varney news reports, said trump just lifted ethanol restrictions. Sounds like worse news for all outboard motors. Mechanics will have lots of carburetor maintenance now vs current ethanol grade. 15% ethanol I'd now.

Ethanol is basically a subsidy to corn farmers mostly big industrial agriculture. It is a total scam and should not be put in any fuel. Another bad government program that won’t be cut by either party.

I hate ethanol and ethanol threads equally. Here’s 20 pages of blathering about what everyone would do, that the president should do etc. It doesn’t do a damn bit of good so you boys better learn how to remove ethanol from your gas or run your outboard every few days and top off your tanks.

If you are running older outboards or lawn equipment you should be running non-ethanol anyways.

If you are storing gas for hurricane prep or etc, make sure its non-ethanol.

If you have to use ethanol gas...burn it, don't let it sit...

To remove, add 10-15% water by volume and shake. Wait a little while and siphon water off the bottom. You will be spending more than for non E but you will have non E fuel. The alcohol mixes with the water and you extract both when siphoning off!

Shit you blew it. I was going to sell the idea and everyone would have overhead gas tanks at their house or boat shed and be removing ethanol themselves ...

@Boatbrains thanks for that info. I have a local place that sells ethanol free and I use it in my skiff and all my small engine stuff.

Marine launch at Delacroix has 93 non ethanol gasoline, so far so good.

I wish we had more places in Texas with non ethanol gas.

Ethanol “ enhanced” gas has a 21 day shelf life. Worst shit ever made.

Pure gas app

Got to rain on your parade... ethanol laced fuel has been around for a lot years now (and it was being sold before any labeling let you know that's what you were buying...).

I've run E-Tec motors (all 90hp...) now since 2005 - and not had the slightest problem using ethanol fuels.... This during the early years when other motor makes were having terrible trouble with ethanol laced fuels....

Once again - in hard commercial service I've not have the slightest fuel related problem using standard ethanol type fuels... 14 years now.... and my current motor is right at 2300 operating hours... my previous motor had more than 2700 hours and running strong when we replaced it in 2012....

Because you don’t let your boat sit long.

That article said the restrictions lifted the ban during times when smog was an issue.

Wasn't ethanol tauted as exceptionally clean burning? So why is it currently banned for 6 months of the year?

Right! It just takes 3 times the fuel to achieve same end result so at the end of the day... more emissions! Add the emissions that all the farm equipment puts out planting, growing, harvesting, trucking, and processing all that kern!
Now think about all the run off of pesticides, herbicides, and fertilizer comin down the mighty Mississip!

I say drill BABY drill! Let the farmers go back to growing food since there are so very many starving people in this country!

What’s a carburetor?
Something that gets a hull out of the hole better than any 4 stroke could dream of with 20% less weight.

I saw it while flipping channels. Trump announced it during a press conference with two farmers behind him and talking about helping farmers with tariffs. I don't think Iowa corn farmers care about our outboards any more than Rick Scott and corporations care about algae in FL waters.

I only use Rec-90 any way.
