Lots of years ago, my uncle had a trolling motor mounted on the side of his round bottom aluminum skiff. The motor was about 2' aft of the bow. Rigged this way, the motor would kick up if it hit a stump.

I want to do the same on my little Starcraft skiff which is very similar to the boat my uncle had.

Has anybody seen a similar rig? Any ideas for building one?
