    Somehow I missed this thread...

Tom, some of the guns are going to be converted to less lethal, but the majority are being sold to a private dealer. The word right now is officers will be able to buy the guns at a greatly reduced price if they desire.

Most of the guns are in exceptional condition and only a couple of years old. They have integrated lights, slings, side saddles, youth stocks and ghost ring sights. The barrel lenght is 18 ". They would make a great home defense gun.

If they do offer them to us, I would be happy to acquire one for you. I will let you know.

100 yards with a shotgun, i wish i was that accurate

500 yards with iron sights don't see those cops being that good i'm sorry.

Why are they getting them now, opd carry both versions in their car.

even if i got one i wouldn't give my shotgun away

Man, Ive done more interviews than you have drank beer...well, more beer than the average person drinks ;)

    ucfsae,

Those guns have ghost rings and rifled barrels. 100 yds is with slugs and can be acomplished on man size targets. The maximaum effective range with buckshot is 50 yds. Yes many cops have trouble mastering the gun (dont get me on a soap box about that ::)) If you want to learn how to do it, I still have my shotgun let me know. BTW nobody would give you the choice of keeping your gun or not. Police work is still para-military. ::)

Like Orlando, we considered keeping both. In fact our cars are set up for it, but the shotgun does not have many true applications in 21st century policing. Who is going to go into the mall and blast off a bunch of buckshot at an active shooter? Too much liability. The new tactical application rifle rounds mitigate things like overpenetration.
