tohatsu vs yamaha

So, I put a Yamaha 25 on my new Caicos. I am super happy with its performance. However, I am not happy that I cannot service it myself without voiding the warranty. Instead, I had to take it to a dealer and spend $300 for the 20-hour service. I could not even have a mobile mechanic come out. It had to go to a dealer. Tohatsu motors are very user friendly and easy to work with. In hindsight, I'd probably would have put a 30 HP Tohatsu on my skiff. Also, Tohatsu motors 40 HP and below are basically Mercury motors. Most of the components for Mercury motors 40 HP and under are built at the Tohatsu factory. They just slap a Mercury sticker on it. As far as portable motors, it'll be hard to beat a Tohatsu. However, the Yamaha F25 is probably one of the best motors put out by Yamaha since the 70 HP.
