Just got my first Tibor... mounted it to my rod just to feel the balance and when I took it off the reel stand had a chip from where it locks into the reel seat.

The finish on the reel looks awesome and I guess I’m just shocked that it got knicked so easily....

It’s never happened to my Nautilus Reels. Anyone have a similar experience with Tibor?

FYI it’s a Royal Blue Tibor riptide and I put it on a 10wt Orvis Helios 3D

Have you ever had another reel in that particular rod?

Sounds like you may have a burr.

No issue with any other reel, I did check the reel seat clamp for any burrs.... nada

Is it the matte finish or the anodized?

The matte finish seems to scratch a lot easier than the anodized.

I would also say my tibor’s scratch easier than my nautilus’s.

But a scratching and chipping seem to be totally different problems. I would call them or take it back to where you got it.
