Starting school at UT this fall, I'm from Naples and I'm bringing my 8wt H3 to live in my dorm with me. Does anyone have any spots I could hit wading/kayaking? Thanks

Are you on Florida saltwater fly fishing on FB. Lots of tampa people there.

Not yet. I’ll have to check that out. Thanks
One easy way to target fish on the fly there from a kayak is to target fish in docklights. There is also less boat traffic at night.

Fort Desoto is probably the best to wade in Tampa area. There is a lot of good shallow water there. Also, fly fishing the beaches in the summer time is good.

Your best bet is to meet people in our area, not give away spots on the internet and go fish with them. Some good fishing around here.

Correct.

There is a good local fly scene here. Just get plugged in locally and success will come.

I second Simmons. I used to do really well there in college, particularly on weekdays (which might explain why it took me so long to graduate).

Get plugged in with the local scene. Hang at Bar Fly for the poonfecta event and meet people. Best way to get plugged in Is get out and do it. Also- talk to Enver at “on the fly” in the monsters and minnows shop. A wealth of knowledge and locked in with the local scene.
