Fished the Tampa Bay Waterkeeper Waterman Tournament this past weekend. Instead of getting our azz kicked by TB redfish for one day (like we do in my RedFly Tournament), we decided to do it for two days. Day one was post front...20-30 mph out of the N-NE and a full moon, which meant no water in Tampa Bay. We sled pushed my buddy's skiff easily over a mile and caught nothing. Day two was better. Got on some tailers early. Blew one shot on a school of about six and then managed this guy (23.5") when his tail popped up walking back to the skiff. 60"+ won the tournament so our fish wouldn't have even placed if we got the second fish we blew out. Anytime you can cast to tailers in Tampa Bay, it's a good day. When you actually get them to eat, it's even better.

I fished the tourney also. I was fishing solo and dealing with the boat and trying to throw the fly was brutal. I had shots though but most ran when the fly hit the water. I had three following the fly and a puffer swooped in and ate the fly.

Sunday was better, some trailers and and big fish but managed a small one. I felt good considering I was poling solo throwing the fly and only fished 5 hours each day.

Should have waded probably.

Jon, the offer still stands to trade my half day with Benny for your two days in the Keys with Johan. Ill throw in some of my first place rum to sweeten the deal!
Dude...as much as I want to fish with Benny....2 full days to try and get a slam....cannot pass that up. I play 'Words With Friends' every day with Benny so setting a trip up with him in our chats shouldn't be too hard. LOL
