What I remember of Aruba was a very small shorebreak.
Might want to take up windsurfing instead.
Diving was spectacular. See them bonefish eye to eye.

will see what I can find tomorrow. I know they have one or two places to get boards but, other then that its mainly skim boards this place is really good for that.

I remember skim boards, found out why they make sandpaper out of beach sand!

Longboard, even if you can't ride it much, it'll make a good paddleboard. Great exercise.

x2, longboards work everywhere...even on the west coast. Best deal for your money. And they don't require as much skillz as a 5'6" board does.

I used to deal with a guy that had a surf shop down there.  It was called Isla surf shop I think. His name was Paul if I remember correctly.  A long board is gonna help yur fat azz learn a little quicker but I don't have much hope for you considering the number of times you have fallen off of platforms on perfectly stable boats. You could even try using smaller windsurfer boards just to get the feel for getting up.  You can actually catch really small waves with them.  I know they do get waves down there and some places can be sketchy with the rocks and reefs they have.  Don't try and be a hero and surf around places like that because you don't belong there.  Find some beach breaks or areas where there might be a sandbar. You can try with shorter boards if you want but for you I would not go any shorter than a 7 foot board.

Not much to add other than most kids from Florida have tried skateboards. If you could skate (and swim) then you stand a good chance of learning to surf on a longboard. If you really sucked at skating but can still swim then forget surfing. Pick up a bodyboard and fins.
