It is time to list my skiff. After moving back to Florida I wanted to get out on the water in a more substantial way. I grew up in kayaks and stepped up to a gheenoe in college for fishing. I have had a boaters license since 12 and ran bigger bay boats and cabin cruisers throughout high school. I moved to the midwest for work and living in the cold and gray knew I needed to get back to Florida and flats fishing. This boat was the perfect stepping stone back into the sport and a great way to introduce my fiance to the flats. We have both loved poling so much we are moving up to a Cayo 180MV and are pumped.
This boat is a great step up from a kayak or a gheenoe. You can learn a lot about poling and boat operation with this craft. On good weather days I have fished all over Biscayne Bay and Downtown Islamorada. If the weather kicks up I always feel safe, but it isn't the most comfortable. The trim tabs help a lot with that. Great mpg. Ran over 40 miles out of Founders park one afternoon and burned 3.5 gallons. If you have a bit more free time than I do you'll be able to fish this plenty with good weather windows in the bay. I grew up fishing Mosquito lagoon and this boat would do fantastic in the small creeks near the causeway and flats in the WMA area and still be able to make the bigger runs.
Don't buy this boat if you want to take 3 or more people out. It is a great skiff for 2 that floats super shallow and you can pull it with a golf cart if need be.
I am happy to answer questions. I am going to be on a camping and bird hunting trip for the Christmas holiday so if I don't get back to you over the weekend expect a reply by Tuesday at the latest.
