i am interested in a skiff. I am wondering, performance wise for a blue collar guy. To go with a hells bay or east capeskiff?

If you are here in Jax why not a spear? There isn't that much big/rough water it's a lot more creek running than anything? Do you already know the area well?

Save yourself some money and get a Carolina Skiff. Cost a fraction of the others and will float just as skinny.

A steel mill meltshop manager in MX once joked that he was going to throw me in the furnace to raise the “cabron” in their steel.

In that case, definitely East Cape. You’ll fit right in.

That very well may have been a veiled insult. Were you wearing "the hat"?

Not veiled at all. Just a funny joke from a good client. No hat back then... I still had hair then....

Yeah until you have to run the st John's or get 2 clients that are big guys and dont have skiff legs. We dont exactly get the ideal client for fishing in a small skiff, sightfishing. Most calls you will get are going to be a guy or 2 in town on a business trip and want to sneak out on a quick trip or a family of 3-5.

OP, what skiff are you currently running?

The manager of blackfly is a guide that runs a lostman and regularly has two anglers I think he's got a 60 E-TEC. Family of 3-5 would be a Carolina skiff.

Andrew purchased that skiff from me...I am letting this guy know he will get more calls from families of 3-5 than one or 2 anglers wanting to fly fish as that's who calls my phone more frequently and I turn them to another guide who can accommodate...Also it's not a Carolina Skiff it's a bay boat.

Understood! You could fit two families in this thing:

A relative-in-law runs a 18' or 19' C-Skiff and can cater to a full family in an economical way. He's a bait guy down south and runs the ICW.
East Cape .... I own a caimen and have to say the performance, and customer service is phenomenal. Plus you won’t break the bank buying one.
I have an old HB Whipray and love it, but I have also heard terrific things about the the EC Caimen. There are so many excellent skiffs these days. Unfortunately, most are very expensive.
