hey all, despite my best efforts I haven’t been able to find a freestone yet (anyone...). I am in need of a reel for my 6wt and am curious what reel would you recommend? I will say, even though I love Tibor, I sold my Backcountry because I wasn’t a fan of the drag adjustment. I just couldn’t get used to it.

Right now I am thinking an Abel Super. Any thoughts?

The new version of the Backcountry will be out soon or I really like my Tibor Signature 5-6. Just like a freestone but 1/8” wider spool.

If you don't get the new Tibor I'd look at a Nautilus NV-G.

I don’t have any info but with the BC being discontinued they do have a void in their non-sealed line up. Stands to reason a new model could be on the horizon.
I suspended my Freestone search, bought a Behemoth to use while I wait to see if there is something new.

Put an 8W Nautilus on there with 6W line. They are light enough so if you ever decide to swap or find your freestone, you can drop it on one of your other rods.

Hopefully the new tibor offering if lighter weight then some of their current models and maybe a touch larger arbor.

I have a Tibor Tailwater that I use on little 6wt redfishing setup. It's been awesome. The drag is almost non-existent, so I just palm it. Super light and bullet proof. I have it on the old TFO ticr-x 6wt 7'9" which pairs nicely with slot reds

Abel Big Game #1 is very similar to the Freestone. It is a standard arbor reel.
