Has anyone here sent a reel in to Tibor for service and maintenance?

I bought a Backcountry about a year and a half ago that was sent directly from them. Lately, it has started making more noise and feeling rough rough when reeling. I really cant tell what's causing it, but my guess is its coming from the clutch pins as the sound and feel are more pronounced and often when drag is applied.

Anywho, i was just wondering if people had experience with sending reels into Tibor for issues like this. And should i call and explain my issue before sending in? I wonder if this is a warranty issue or user error?

Thanks,
T

I just picked up my reel from service at Tibor yesterday.
I am local so I had the opportunity to visit the shop.
They had the reel back in 10 days.
I had some worn parts that needed replacing.

had a great experience.
you can call Tibor direct to talk them about any issues and send the reel in for service.

I've sent two reels in for clean and lube this year and the folks at Tibor are always quick and thorough. Contact them via email and they'll send you a form to include with the reel where you can describe your issue. Tibor reels are incredibly simple, so if there's an issue they'll find it and fix it.

I just shot them an email about a gulfstream I just purchased. The spool rubs the frame... hopefully this is something that can be fixed by either part replacement or some machining.

Will let you know how it goes once I hear back.

I've sent two different reels in twice. Luckily, all internal parts can be replaced on the classic model. Both times, some parts needed replacing and the reel was cleaned and sent home. No issue - great service. You can clean it yourself and grease it back it up if you have the right grease. You can buy their grease from their online store.

I appreciate it. I actually called and spoke with someone Friday. Super knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful. Still not quite sure of the issue so I will be sending the reel In Monday for their professional opinion. I’m super anal about my gear and would rather it be fixed properly by them. After speaking with someone over the phone, I am super comfortable with them taking a look and making all applicable repairs. Thanks for sharing you experiences!
