Cracked the block on my etec 60hp 16ft dragonfly emerger. It used to struggle getting on plane even with the two stroke and a four blade prop. I'm worried that the yamaha 60 hp wont be enough and that I should get a 70hp (the 70 and 60 are the same weight). I think the skiff might only be rated for a 60 but it is not explicitly stated on the skiff or the website. Any Advice?

How did you crack a block? Can it not be welded? And how could it struggle getting a 16ft boat on plane? Wrong prop? I have a 50 and no issues.

Starter came loose cracked it. Weld would have to be perfect to hold starter on right place. It’s a pretty big 16 footer. 8 inch draft 550 pounds.
