How do you go about figuring the dimensions for a poling platform? Height, width all that jazz. I'm contemplating one but if I can find one used or mass produced without having to go custom that would be beneficial for my pocket. Thanks

First of all it needs to either fit in front of the outboard or be tall enough to fit over it without hitting when the motor is tilted. 36-38” is about average I believe and the deck dimensions are about 24”x36” or so but it’s all relative to your boat. The mounting pads on a generic platform may not hit good mounting points on your specific hull or may impede opening hatches etc.
A good shop can build you one for about $1000 and it will fit your boat the way you want it.
