I can get one of these free thru my work rewards program. It seems like a good camera from the reviews. I have been looking at waterproof point&shoots. But having a Father and Grandfather that were both pro photogs(mainly weedings and porn) I have the desire to get a slr and do some more creative stuff. The one thing I do like is that you can use just about any Pentax lens ever made with it. Which means some very inexspensive high quality used lens out there. I can spend $150 or so and have a 300 zoom and a macro lens to go with it. Much nicer than dropping $1200 -$1500. My Dad has some DSLR lens that are $1500 alone.

My buddy shoots a K-10 and likes it very much. He was also a Pentax film shooter so he didn't have to repurchase glass. They also have IS built into the body unlike Nikon or Canon where it's in the lens.

Thanks for the info. It seems like a good starter DSLR at a decent price. I was wondering about the IS. I guess thats how you can use the older lens since its in the body and not the lens. Pretty cool setup.

Don't know if it is as good as Canon or Nikon's current systems they have made many advancements in the last few years. But we took many excellent images with out any IS systems for years so it should be fine with good technique.

I have K-100 and love it. I have a 28-300 lens on it and thats the only one I use. As a matter of fact its the only lens I have. Just does about everything and no need to pack extra lenses around.
