I'm very soon going to be ordering a new boat and am trying to determine my hull color. The boss (wife) likes the AwlGrip "Flag Blue" which is a dark blue color. I was looking more towards a medium color like a gray or medium blue as I feel the medium colors are easier to maintain in the long term and keep looking nice. Is there that big a difference over the long haul keeping the darker colors looking good, not fading and dealing with scratches and such.

    Whats your advice?

Anything but a white deck or a color that absorbs heat.
White is hard on the eyes due to reflected glare,
dark colors are hard on the feet due to absorbed heat.
Washing and regular waxing will take care of the rest of your worries,
if the boat is garage kept. Long term sun exposure is what causes chalking.
Scratches happen....never stopped me from enjoying my boats.
