We've recently had a thread on this very subject. Just look for it. What exact rod is it? Where do you fish and what are you primarily going to be using it for and for what species? Also, how long have you been fly casting/fishing? What reel will you be using on the rod? What's your budget for fly line?

When in doubt, start with a true to weight line with a standard type weight forward taper. For all around fishing you won’t be wrong.

I have the next generation Salt HDs in 8 and 10. Standard lines make me happy. Overweighted lines can be a helpful crutch for rods that are too stiff for the caster and for some special purposes (maybe).
