For those who dont know I just got back from a whirlwind trip to NY thurs, fri, sat. I took my new Nikon D40 and took some shots. These are only a few out of the over 200 pics I shot. Enjoy.

The first pics are from my Aunt and Uncles house. Their house is on a mountain that overlooks the Hudson River and West Point. It sits on 7acres. Very sweet.

These next shots are from a place we went on friday called Stone Crop Gardens.

These last shots are pretty cool I guess. They are of this small waterfall running out of the mountain. The water was freezing ballz. I only got in waist deep. These shots were hard to take because I didnt have a tripod which I needed to really hold the camera still. I was playing with the shutter speed setting. You can tell as the picture progress what a slower shutter speed does to running water.

Cool pics. What lense did you use??

The 55-200mm lense. Except the waterfall pics were on the 18-55mm. Used the UV filter also.

those are cool, I see you're getting the long exposure thing down with that moving water stuff too.

btw - were you able to throw a few flies in those ponds? :)

No. I was on a limited timeframe. That water was right off the road and I spent only 15-20 min as that was all the time I had. There was a ton of big ol' skeeters as well. I wished I had my rod with me but I was also unsure if there was even any fish there. I've never trout fished before.
