I just picked up a 13' Johnsen skiff, I would like to fiberglass a casting deck. The boat is in the typical three bench seat layout like a jon boat, I would like the deck to go from the bow to the front of the second seat. My question is if I cut out the middle seat will I lose some structural integrity, also would I need to brace it in some way? Any help would be appreciated.

The hull would retain the upper shape because of the deck but you risk warping the hull.

Yes, a deck that big would need supports.

You could cut out a portion of the seats using the remains as your support for the deck.

There was a post on here where the guy left the seat in and made the space between the top of the seat and the underside of the deck a storage area.
