Hi, New to the forum but have been here looking for a skiff. Recently retired, spending the past few years guiding on the Gunnison and Colorado rivers. Been a long time fan of the salt game and the challenges of the hunt. We relocated to the PSL area, and acquired a 2012 Maverick HPX. Any feedback on the boat is appreciated, I do have a question in regards to the pros/cons of a jackplate with this boat. It’s a beauty boat and I can’t wait to start exploring the waters of Florida. I am seeking advice recommendations on where I can get a boat cover made in the PSL area, and I need to find a GPS/NAV system, preferably one the is compatible with FMT.

Thanks,

Bit of advice -- you have a great boat. Really great boat. Don't believe the skinny water BS. Watch the depth closely and when you see 2 ft. or less on the depth finder, then 15" start worrying really bad and make your way back into deeper water. Not sure where you are, but in Florida we have limerock and oyster bars on our flats and they will tear up your motor fskeg and gear box and prop. These are not areas to run in, poling only, jack plate or not. I tore up my Mariner 60 on my Dolphin backcountry 16 (years ago, who even remembers Mariner??) several times. It supposedly could run in 12" of water, NO that is not good.. Learned my lesson.
