Anyone seen this in action yet? Something that’s has been discussed and applied to river running jon boats for years. But nobody has made such a serious attempt in a flats skiff till now. Definitely not a backcountry setup. But Morejohn made some good points about it being a serious tarpon skiff. I bet it handles like on rails. And from what little i have seen and heard it does. And hauls ass to boot with a Rotax 300hp rotary and a 6” draft. Holeshot 0-30 in two seconds and top speed of 60 mph per Fly.

The only real drawback would not being able to run skinny. And sucking sand/shells. Maybe pump longevity issues as well. But all speculation at this point.

What do you guys think? Anyone ready for a jet ski😂
All pics snagged from Morejohn’s IG post. But apparently they have built three complete skiffs already.

What Skiff, exactly, do you run in 5’ seas?

Please expound.
Yeah I was in a Contender sail fishing in legit 5 footers. It was the most horrible wet ride of my life. Felt like someone was tossing a five gallon bucket of water in my face every two seconds. While getting bounced around like I was in a washing machine. Was literally sore and bruised afterwards. Would have hate to be out there in a skiff.

Very cool skiff idea. I'd bet it would be a great choice for where I fish on the upper Texas coast. We have lot of widgeon grass along with marsh mud and sand flats. When its too shallow or too much grass, its time to pole and/or drift out. I like it a lot. I'd like to see running videos show typical fishing style running and not the extreme jet ski maneuverability spins and stops. I get it that they show just what the boat can really do but who really operates a boat like that, except a jet skier or flat bill chad and brad. Anyway, very cool.
Also, somewhat entertaining thread. Reminded me of the Drake.

Amazing skiff, just went through the whole thread and LOL at the haters with egg on their face now.

Can't wait to see one of these in person, somebody in St.Pete order one asap

The biggest problem for me, personally, is that "can't idle at the dock" problem. I think someone else mentioned "goes forward while idling". If you watch him, he shuts down the motor to stay still or moves the stick back and forth. Interesting stuff.
Regarding the Poling platform - here's a cool thought, since you don't have an outboard to contend with - imagine if the poling platform extended off the back of the boat entirely, so it didn't overlap the deck at all (maximizing space), AND was collapsible - so when collapsed, it was flush with the deck (maybe even extending it?) and completely out of the way, but when expanded, was a full on platform. That would be fricken cool. . . .

The platform is to keep you from completely leaving the boat when you hammer down and lose your grip. They'll eventually add seats with five points belts, helmets, and neck protection like NASCAR has.

Yea that was sarcasm, silly to think any skiff can handle 5’ers. Can’t fix stupid

As crazy as the maneuverability is I'm not sure I'd ever need that from a skiff. Not hating just an observation.

I love the docking.

From what I was reading the only drawback that was previously mentioned was fuel consumption. And wow these things do suck the fuel down if you run em hard. Of course running WOT for a hour at 60mph would be a rare circumstance for most. But if you did one chart was showing 25 gallons per hour. I could see cruising at 30 cutting that down to a more reasonable 10-15 or so. For comparison a Merc 115 burns 10 gph at WOT. So it ain’t far off from that. But better than a 300hp outboard. Which I don’t think too many would want that anchor on the back. That’s what’s cool about this is high HP without the draft. I already drive like a old man. I don’t even run my 50 at WOT very often. But it would be nice to cover all of Charlotte Harbor in about twenty minutes 😂

If it's a 12 degree boat that rides like an HPX-V / Marathon / Snake Bight etc but only drafts 6" because the weight is evenly distributed and it'll go 60 I can see it catching on quick. If it's not a 12 degree boat I don't think it will dislodge the above skiffs with a 115 as a South Florida tarpon skiff. Maybe it could be a good Nature Coast option where a prop is a liability.

I think if Malibu/Maverick put out a jet HPX-V with a slick marketing video of it doing donuts and swapping ends the tone in here would be completely different.

I can see the usefulness running shallow creeks with sharp turns, where you need to be on plane but making the turn is… puckering.
I think what many are failing to understand here is the pure fun factor! I mean C’mon guys, ya’ll ain’t too old to have fun in a skiff are ya?🤣🤣🤣

Not enough speakers. Oh wait... maybe I'm thinking of wake boats?

That's what could go under the poling platform where the motor used to be! A large multi-angle molded box with big speakers & subwoofers all around it, facing in all directions! Wouldn't that be awesome??

This skiff looks fun! Man I would love to get behind the wheel of this beast… this brings coming in hot to a whole new level. 😜
Let see it run around first. I like it

No let’s put an Rtic on the back of a $100k boat.
