I know it needs tabs and a jack plate to get skinny ;D, but here's the real deal.
My wife's father left her this 72 Gran Torino Sport when he died and she's chomping at the bit to start restoring it. She mentioned something about sentimenal something or other. i really wasn't listening. Anyway, here's my angle. If I commit the funds and time to get her car back on the road, I should have no trouble swinging a new boat by her in the next year or so. Right? Brilliant!!

    I'm screwed, aren't I?

Depending on how well you restore it, you may have a blank check for that new boat. [smiley=1-thumbsup3.gif]

But you must be ready to pull the trigger as soon as the restore is done. These types of points are like gift cards over time the value disappear. [smiley=1-tears1.gif]

There's a long story behind this car. I never got to meet my FIL. He passed before I ever met my wife. So between 6 sisters and a brother, countless other in-laws, out-laws, cousins, and play cousins, it's finally back in her hands. All I can say, it her side. ;)

Tom C, that's good advice. Strike while the iron is hot. I like it.

Lots of good examples out on the web. Youtube has some fun ones.

Somewhere in between. Our first step is to get it back road ready and painted. Then we can work on the finer details as I print up more money. ;D

Tanner, don't worry about those Caimen measurements. I stopped and talked to Kev last week. They've got some nice options in the works. I also saw your boat there. ;)

You restore the car then we will get dressed up like S & H and put the girls in some retro mini's and take them to the disco

I like your thinking. That idea has merit right there.

"OK, Honey, we'll restore the car.  But first, there's the question of this other boat.  I'll make sure we restore the car, but I'd like to get this..........................................."

My suggestion.  If the iron is hot, use it. Irons cool down quick.  ;D

Yes, yes leaverage, I like it kemo!

If that doesn't work, buy the boat you want and file the reciept under "auto repair material" tell her there was a lot of fiberglass needed.
