Fort Pierce to Jax in a flats boat? Wow.

FORT PIERCE — Two Vero Beach fishermen missing since Sunday afternoon were found alive Tuesday afternoon near the Florida-Georgia border by “a good Samaritan,” according to the Fort Pierce Coast Guard station.

Vincent Faulkner, 39, and his brother-in-law Eric Ross, age unknown, left the Black Pearl boat ramp in downtown Fort Pierce about noon Sunday. They were reported missing by family members about 9:30 p.m. Sunday.

Three 87-foot Coast Guard cutters, a C-130 cargo plane, a Falcon jet and a helicopter took part in the search.

Jesse Diehl, a friend of the two men, said they were in Faulkner’s 14-foot boat designed for flats fishing.
