Going to be headed down to the Middle Keys in the beginning of July to do some poon fishing. Looking for economical places to stay. Have searched Airbnb and vrbo as well as some of the motel/hotels. Does anyone have any info on a good cheap place to stay? Don’t need trailer parking just somewhere to crash after fishing all day. TIA!

If you’re lucky enough to catch an opening, Bahia Honda SP has some waterfront houses for great rates. IIRC, they sleep six.

Thanks for the responses thus far. I will check those spots out, will just be a buddy and I going so don't need anything big or fancy. Would camp but the rates are almost that of staying in a motel or airbnb and it would be hot as hell.

bud n marys is around 225 night, I have a friend who stays at the Key Lantern in for about 100. Both in Islamorada. Marathon is probably cheaper.

Rent a houseboat, Moore it on the flats at Craig Key, it will be fun.

There are no tarpon in July.....lol
Most places have 1 month minimum for airbnb. Old wooden bridge, parmers in lower keys. Not sure about further up. Sometimes you can rent for a "month" and "leave early" and get a refund. Personally I prefer a house because then I can cook, laundry, have skiff parking and wash space etc. Venture out on cudjie does some short term rentals as well, but they have some weird hoa rules.

Parmers is our go-to its pretty affordable especially if you get one of their smaller rooms. Free little breakfast spread there every morning.. nice people and great location.

I’ve stayed at the Blackfin Resort in Marathon before.. nothing fancy, but decent place to crash, and if you’re fishing out of there, a boat launch and slips provided. I believe the launch is free to guests, can’t remember if slip is extra. A couple bars and restaurants within walking distance. The price was reasonable in 2019. I can only imagine what they want now!
