My Daughter would like a macro lens for her Canon T3i for Christmas. Her being a beginner and me knowing very little about photography I am looking for suggestions on a good lens with out breaking the bank.

To start out I would get a set of close up Filters +1 to +4

you could try KEH.com for used

or get a lens adapter then you can use anything in manual mode

some or my macros cost more than my Body  :-(

But you can buy from these guys with confidence ! :)

Will only work with Canon EOS Digital SLR Cameras with an EF-S mount, including:

Rebel SL1, T1i, T2i, T3i, T3, T4i, T5i, EOS 50D, 60D, 7D, 70D

Noe, Thanks for the suggestion. That is a little more than I wanted to spend but like anything else, you get what you pay for. After comparing some of the less expensive lenses, with the little knowledge I have, this one seems like a good deal. My daughter will be using it for close ups of flowers to the ol man posing with redfish ;)  I hope she doesn't loose interest like most teenagers do because I can see getting a lot of money tied up in this hobby! Anyway thank for the info.
