Just wanted to know if anyone knows people running there a Solo Skiff on a long Shaft Outboard instead of the Recommended Short Shaft Outboard. Feel free to drop any knowledge on this, thanks.

Why would you want a long shaft? The short shafts hang down too much as it is.

The Solo needs over a foot of water to run under outboard power with a short shaft. You can’t tilt it up to run shallow because with the split tail design, at any angle other straight ahead the prop will hit one of the sponsons.

How about hanging a longtail mm off the back? Anybody seen that before?

It’s been done; I was seriously considering one for mine. I have to negotiate some long stretches of shallow water in a couple of the spots I fish. I really love my Solo, but having to pole through 500 yards of mud too soft to wade in a heavy wind takes some of the joy out of the trip.

I figure it had. Not much difference in those and some of the layout rigs for duck hunting.
