I've seen some use the oxygen tanks sold at lowes and home dept for their soldering torches. If it's a refillable tank then any welding supply house can refill them, you don't need medical grade.

It’s the 4th of July week end, tournament fishermen and live bait fishermen know exactly what that means. Live bait is dying and the cost of live bait is increasing. Tournament fishermen spend a lot more time now looking in the livewell to see what’s floating, dead or dying … and thinking about that dead fish punishment all day. That punishment can be really expensive turning winners into losers in the blink of an eye. All summer tournament fishermen that are seriously fish to win the money know this routine well. This is of less concern in the fall and spring and absolutely a non-issue in the winter like when B.A.S.S./ESPN puts on the BassMaster Classic tournament.
We fish the CCA tournaments and we do keep the fish alive all day to the scales. Dead fish lose fluids, water and weight, live fish do not lose weight as long as they are alive. Ounces and fractions of ounces are a our "tournament edge" and we are fishing to win; trucks, boats and especially college scholarship for our kids. We are not fishing for fun and entertainment and an outing on the water. At the scales, the weigh master can do what he wants with the fish as soon as he takes responsibility for the fish… that live fish is his problem then.
Question: If any of you are using a compressed oxygen injection livewell system… where do you get your O2 tanks refilled and how much do your refills cost?

A firefighter friend of mine refills mine at no cost, most I know get their tanks transfilled by welding supply companies OR if you find one willing and capable a medical supply company. Good luck finding a supply can be tricky. I have yet to loose a fish while running O2, that includes gut hooked fish I didn't think would make it. Frozen water bottles keep the livewell water temps in check, just don't cool the livewell down to much or it will shock the fish a kill them.
Any welding supply place can get your O2 filled or you can rent a big bottle and fill your current ones as needed. then when big one is empty, they come and exchange.

Stopped by a local fire house today. This is cheapest way to get free O2. Fire fighters will fill the little tanks free after you tell them it for keeping fish alive in the livewell. Ok, I'm on megalops side and think you guys are full of it. I am a career Firefighter/Paramedic and I've never heard of a firehouse being able to fill medical grade oxygen tanks. The Fire House I went to yesterday (Sunday) had 2-3 full H-tanks of medical O2 at the station. These big O2 tanks had 540 CGA valves, none had 870 CGA Post valves. Their little portable medical O2 tanks all had 870 CGA Post valves.
I have a small aluminum compressed O2 tank with a 540 CGA tank valve. I also have an refill device with a 540 CGA nut connector on both ends of the device. They did not have a device with 540 CGA connectors on both ends.
This Fire House refills their small portable medical O2 tanks at their station. But, they use a device with a 540 CGA on 1 end and 870 CGA Post Valve connection on the opposite end that connects to the Post Valve on their portable medical tanks. They mix commercial and medical connections, no problem.

Benney, I sure don't. I know a lot of folks tourney fish but I despise it. I only fish charity tournaments but that's just me. Sounds like you've found an inexpensive source for O2 refills. Best of luck.

I like to fill my hull with Helium to offset the weight of my oxygen system...
