Hey y'all,
I've been struggling to dial in my 8wt Cobalt with the right line for a few months now. Just nothing I've used up to this point has blown me away. What I've tried so far is both the Airflo Flats Universal Taper and the Airflo Bonefish. The Universal Taper just never meshed well with the rod and my casting style, so went out and got the Airflo Bonefish, which is what I have on my 6wt Cobalt, and it's a match made in heaven for me on that rod. However, it's good, but not great, on the 8wt, and I'm a bit tired of just how much thicker Airflo fly lines are compared to everyone else's lines. On top of that, even when I stretch it and the weather is warm, it still seems to coil up on me a lot, and the head of the line feels stiff and "crunchy?" (not sure that's the best way to put it, but all I could think of).
So, for those of you who are throwing this rod, what lines have you come to like? Or is it not a line issue and maybe I need to look for other rods that may suit me a little better?
Thanks guys.
