Any one use this type of material ?

I think they could be used for transom repair. Too heavy for anything else.

They make no mention of screw retention.

There are a lot of these products out there now that are just like the old standby's that are just as useful. If this is what you have locally I would use them. But if they were not local I would not spend the money on shipping to experiment.
