So I think my Jackplate switch may be going out but I was wondering if anyone has ever used the 2nd slot on the co trip box throttle for a Jackplate switch? Could you just buy a switch for trim and wire it to the Jackplate relays or is it more complicated than that?

A pair of thumb buttons in the binnacle handle is cool looking, but makes it harder to operate both systems accurately under game time conditions.

Not sure what you have, but my opinion is a blinker switch on the left side of the steering wheel is best for a jack plate.

Second best is mounting waterproof push buttons on the shaft of the binnacle.

Unfortunately a blinker switch would prob be more awkward with stick steering 😅

The switch doesn’t care what’s it controlling. And Most Jackplate switches are advertised as T/T switches. However not all jack plate motors are created equal. For instance mine is a two wire motor. Others are 3 wire, but that’s where the relays come into play.

Chittum was adding a second switch on the binnacle for the jackplate for a while but got away from it because most people like the blinker switch or dash switch better. With stick steering ruling out a blinker I’d go with a second switch in the binnacle. It needs to be a three wire switch. Blue up, red power, green down.

Totally agree here - it’s too close to the trim and could be counter intuitive. One thumb, two different directions. But, it can be done. If the switches were on opposing sides (trim facing port, but the jack plate on the starboard side of the handle, you could use thumb and index finger at the same time with opposing directions.

Originally it was mounted on the small console but I had to take my hand off the steering it throttle to raise or lower the Jackplate and wasn’t a big fan. I zip tied it to the throttle till I found a better place but kinda liked it. I think it might work well to put it on the front of the throttle (horizontally) but I haven’t figure out a temporary way to trial it

These skinny skiffs are easier to perform hole shots with and safer when you have a blinker switch or switch you can operate with both hands on the wheel and binnacle. This guy has stick steering so no helm to mount a blinker switch. On the binnacle is the best option in my opinion and dash switch or bobs big honking button switch zip tied to the binnacle.
I have seen skiffs come from the builder with the bob’s button switch zip tied to the binnacle lever…that looks shitty and cheal but works.

If you look at the pic, the dashboard is a really long way from the throttle or steering. Stick steer is neat but def has some drawbacks

I ordered another switch like the one I have now, Ill likely mount it the same way.

I have a Yamaha throttle handle sitting on my desk. Looking at making a replacement piece to house two switches like the Tohatsus. I'm also considering a couple other ideas that look a lot better than that cheap Chinese push button switch that everyone is using. Now I just need to find some more time to work on it...

I also have another idea besides the dual thumb switch that will work better - i.e. allow you to keep one hand on the wheel, one hand on the binnacle, and use your thumb for trim and index/middle for jackplate. I may have some time this week to work on a prototype.
