    Glad I am "unempolyed" ;-)

    THE TAX POEM

At first I thought this was funny...then I realized the awful truth of it.

    Tax his land,
    Tax his bed,
Tax the table at which he's fed.
    Tax his tractor,
    Tax his mule,
Teach him taxes are the rule.
    Tax his work,
    Tax his pay,
    He works for peanuts anyway!
    Tax his cow,
    Tax his goat,
    Tax his pants,
    Tax his coat.
    Tax his ties,
    Tax his shirt,
    Tax his work,
    Tax his dirt.
    Tax his tobacco,
    Tax his drink,
Tax him if he tries to think.
    Tax his cigars,
    Tax his beers,
If he cries, tax his tears.
    Tax his car,
    Tax his gas,
Find other ways to tax his ass.
Tax all he has then let him know
    That you won't be done
    Till he has no dough.
    When he screams and hollers,
    Then tax him some more,
Tax him till he's good and sore.
    Then tax his coffin,
    Tax his grave,
Tax the sod in which he's laid.
Put these words upon his tomb,"Taxes drove me to my doom..."
    When he's gone,
    Do not relax,
It's time to apply the inheritance tax.

STILL THINK THIS IS FUNNY? Not one of these taxes existed 100 years ago, and our nation was the most prosperous in the world. We had absolutely no national debt, had the largest middle class in the world, and Mom stayed home to raise the kids. What in the hell happened? Can you spell "politicians?" And I still have to "press 1" for English!?

I would rather pay taxes than to have some crazy jackbag shooting rockets over my head. Love it or leave it.

Most of those things did not exist 100 years ago. What ruined the middle class was credit debt trying to keep up with the joneses IMO.

    BINGO!

Had a conversation with a friend yesterday about a certain mutual friend of both ours. I'll leave out his first name, but his nickname was "XXXX-Wallet". Worked in the mortgage/banking biz and every time I saw him he was in a different benz, bimmer or porsche. Trips to Spain, Italy, etc. Built a huge house on 5 acres west of town.

Anyways, long story short. This friend I was talking to mentioned he stopped by someone's house the other day and saw "Mr Wallet" painting the guy's house. When asked WTF he was doing, "Mr Wallet" broke down and told him that he "had made over $250k a year for the last 10 years, but has nothing in the bank and has lost his job. His mortgage is $6k a month and he's desperate for money".

Just how the heck can anyone justify blowing 2.5 million over 10 years and have nothing to show for it?

If that ain't "keeping up with the Joneses" I don't know what is.

There's an old saying I heard once long ago that said "money can't buy you happiness, but it'll sure let you choose your misery" and I firmly believe that.

The list does not include use tax, which we are all supposed to pay when we purchase goods for use in your home state without paying sales tax (think all of our online orders). :p
