On a low tide, the river house pier is high and dry and on a normal tide, it’s around 18” deep. You can see where it drops off in the picture of the neighboring piers. We need to come out around 16 to 20 feet which would require 4 to 6 pilings. In talking with the neighbors they are saying around $1600 each. That sounds really high to me. I can do all the framing and decking myself, just need pilings put in.

You can jet them in yourself if it's relatively soft sand or mud. The piling themselves should only be $125 - $200ea. Google or YouTube "Jetting Pilings" and you will find a wealth of information on the subject. Can be done with just water or water/air combination.

Do not use 4x4 or 6x6 square PT timbers. They will rot out quicker and are not worth the effort. Ideally, you want .60 CCA Treated for fresh water and 2.5 CCA Treated for salt water submersion.
Regular 4x4 and 6x6's are only treated for around contact and will not last near as long.
