Another oill mishap
Not quite. Here are a couple of major differences between this and the BP mishap.
First, this was an existing production platform, not a drilling rig. These wells have been in production since 2008 with all the proper sub surface safety equipment in place.
Secondly, this was a small contained fire caused from a construction (I heard sandblasting) incident. It is my understanding (from an inside source) that the wells had been shut in prior to this operation and are not in a producing mode. There are no spills or visible sheen that have been reported at this time.
More on this as I hear it.
