I'm new to the boating world. i'm looking at a boat that has an E-TEC 25 on it. It is a 2010 tiller model. The seller says that the engine was run with bad gas, so I'm assuming there is a start/stall issue or rough running. I thought it was carbureted, but it looks like it is fuel injected. The boat is at a good price, and I would like to fix it myself or with minimal cost. I just don't want to get stuck with a heavy repair bill. I was planning on checking compression. What are your thoughts? Are these engines costly to repair?

Ethanol’s a bitch. Clean out fuel system and you’ll be good. If concerned still, get the computer printout. Tell you everything you’d want to know. They don’t need working on like ones in the past. Bulletproof

Get a tech to look at it. Injectors and fuel pumps don’t come cheap nor do the repairs themselves. You won’t be able to just buy an injector and throw at it either as these injectors have to be installed with software also.
