I’m looking into building another catamaran dinghy for my cruising sailboat. This time I’d like to build without wood as much as possible. I’m looking for recommendations...foam core, straight glass. Oh guess I should say. I’d like a target length of 10-11’ and target weight as close as possible to 100 lbs. Is there a foam cored layup that would be strong enough but still not be too heavy?

Btw the catamaran in the picture is 12’. It was built with 1/8” luan door skins for hull sides. 1/4” luan door skins for bottoms, and 1/2 okume for seat/bridge deck. That 4 hp Yamaha will push me at 10 knots wide open.

It looked tippy until I saw it was half of a cat hull.
