My son and I took a week and went to Dogwood Lodge in Hopedale, Louisiana a few weeks ago. Having booked our trip through Yellow Dog Flyfishing, we fished with some great guides, including Greg Moon, Bailey Short and Jonathan Allen who managed to keep us busy.

We fished the Biloxi Marsh, Chandeleur Islands and a few other places. I look forward to going back to get some bigger reds. In addition to their Hells Bay and East Cape skiffs, Greg & Bailey are buying 23' bay boats to access the Chandeleur Islands faster and cover more fishing opportunities, including the tarpon population that I wasn't even aware they had.

For our son's birthday, we rode into New Orleans and ate at Superior Seafood. I think next time I go I'll have to spend a few days in town eating!

I have fished there many times. I prefer to go when you did even if the big bulls are gone. Those fish are big enough and very plentiful! The bulls can be hit or miss as can the weather. I'm jealous.

I’m at that age where if our son calls and asks if I want to go fishing, I don’t hesitate to go. I lost my Dad too early and treasure days on the water with our son. The fishing hardly comes in second place.
